The 4th Sunday of Easter

May 12, 2019

This week we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter. The image of the Good Shepherd portrays Jesus as knowing his “sheep” and caring for them.  We are the “sheep” who hear his message and believe in eternal life.  What a gift we have been given!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers (living & deceased), Godmothers, aunts, grandmothers, & women who serve as “mothers” - May your day be filled with God’s many blessings!  May our memories be loving and forgiving to mothers both living and deceased!

You may have noticed some changes at St. Mary & St. John the Baptist Parishes.  At St. Mary we received a donation of a baby grand piano from the estate of Joanne Howard.  It is in fantastic condition and should last many generations.  The parish is grateful for the gift of the piano.

At St. John the Baptist Parish the windows to the confessional have had plexiglass put in them and the confessional has been remodeled to serve as a confessional/children’s room.  The cost for the project was taken from money given by the Clare Cunningham estate.  We are grateful for the minimum expense & appreciate the quality work.  Next week an “elf” will paint the room and it will be ready for visitors.  The rocking chairs & brass for the Easter Candle stand were purchased by funds given in memory of Joanne Howard.                                                  I believe children should be in the pews during Mass but I also believe that parents & grandparents need a space to allow their children to explore if needed.  Hopefully the “new” room” will be an asset to the parish!  Take a peek!
