The 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time

This week we celebrate the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus’ parable in Matthew’s Gospel highlights Jesus’ response to His authority that the religious establishment is questioning.  Which son would each one of us be in response to Jesus’ question?  Are we submissive and then walk away without complying with the farmer’s request to work in the vineyard?  Do we say “no” and then reconsider the request and work as needed?

Which son is the symbol of a follower of Jesus?  How many of us say & hear the message of Jesus yet fail to put action into words?

The use of an informed conscience causes us to do what we need to do with humility when we respond to God.  Take time to read today’s readings and reflect on them.  Psalm 25 –

Your ways, O Lord, make known to me;

Teach me your paths,

Guide me in your truth and teach me,

For you are God, my Savior…

Good & upright is the Lord;

Thus he shows sinners the way.

He guides the humble to justice,

and teaches the humble his way!”

is especially meaningful in sharing the message of following Jesus with humility and action!

Please take time this week to call or communicate in some way with a young person in your life.  Ask them how they are doing – share with them that you are praying for them. Pray a prayer with them on the phone, send them a note or letter telling them how much they mean to you and explain how important God is in your life and how much you value God’s love and peace.  We must communicate and share the Catholic Faith with others if we wish them to be aware of the joy a relationship with God brings to each of us. Take time…
