The 1st Sunday of Lent

March 10, 2019

This week we celebrate the First Sunday of Lent.  Another Lenten Season has begun.  Now is the time to take our Saginaw Black Book in hand and spend time with the Lord.  It is also a time of additional prayer, reflection on our relationship with God and what sacrifices we can make as we journey though Lent.  Rice Bowls are available in the entry ways – please take one and put it on your dining room table.  Each day or week consider giving up something that costs money so that you can put the cost in the Rice Bowl to help people throughout our diocese and the world who are less fortunate than we are.                             Lent is also a time to decide to select something “extra” to do that will help us to develop spiritually.  Perhaps being kind to someone who irritates us or attending the Lenten Mission Mar. 24, 25, & 26 will help us to grow.  It is also valuable to begin (or continue) the practice of examining our conscience and praying the Act of Contrition each night before we sleep.  The important “thing” is to make Lent “real” in our prayer and actions!

We have been blessed for the past 5 years to have had a FANTASTIC GROUP of people who have created a wonderful August Tea that everyone looked forward to attending and helping in the kitchen to create the scrumptious menu. I was approached in December and told that the Committee is retiring – their tireless efforts and many hours of preparation are greatly appreciated!  If there is anyone interested in being on a Committee to continue the Tea please contact the Office.
