Notes from Pentecost Bulletin

This week we celebrate Pentecost. Our lives have been touched by the example of the disciples at the First Pentecost.  The gift of the Spirit calls each of us to actively share the Gospel message with everyone we meet.  Our heritage of faith had its roots in the willingness of the early followers to share Jesus’ message. Jesus was constantly telling his people to love one another and to forgive each other.  Both of these concepts can be difficult to follow.  The disciples came out of hiding and were free to share Jesus’ teachings with all nations.     The Gifts of the Holy Spirit that we receive at Confirmation – Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Wonder and Awe in God’s Presence – should be used by each of us on a daily basis within our families, schools, and workplaces.  Take time today to review the gifts that God has given to each of us – make a list.  How are we utilizing these Gifts?  As we grow older we should be able to look back and reflect on our gifts.  We must also remember that we are never too old to discover new gifts that we have been given by God.  As we reflect – what new gifts have been given to each of us?

On Sunday, June 1st, we celebrated Graduation with the Class of 2014.  We are blessed to joyfully acknowledge our students and wish them well as they begin their adult journeys.  Perhaps they will go to college, the service, or stay in the area.  Whatever the Class of 2014 does with their lives they will always be rooted in their Catholic Faith.  Their lives are part of the history of St. Mary & St. John the Baptist Parishes.
